Youth Opportunities

From middle school to graduation, there are real opportunities to explore, experience, and step into the world of manufacturing.

Summer High School Internship Program

Designed for students ages 16–18, this paid internship program places high school students inside local manufacturing companies for real, hands-on experience. Participants build practical skills, gain exposure to professional work environments, and explore career pathways before graduation.

Career Exploration Camps

This week-long immersive experience introduces students to modern manufacturing through facility tours, hands-on classroom activities, and direct interaction with industry professionals. Students explore multiple companies and learn how different roles connect across the manufacturing ecosystem.

School Career Fair and Expos

Local schools regularly host career fairs and expos where MPC and participating manufacturers represent the industry. These events give students the opportunity to ask questions, learn about career paths, and connect directly with professionals working in manufacturing.

Manufacturing Classes & Training Pathways

Many McHenry County high schools now offer manufacturing courses, giving students early exposure to hands-on technical skills. For expanded training opportunities, students can also access programs through McHenry County College, including programs housed in the new Foglia Career & Technical Education (CATI) Center.

MCC Kids & College

Offered for students in 6th through 9th grade, MCC’s Kids & College programs provide week-long STEM-focused camps that introduce technical skills and hands-on learning in an engaging environment. These programs help spark early interest in manufacturing and related career fields.
